A photovoltaic system has been installed on the roofs of Plansee Shanghai since January 2023. The new system consists of 4,130 modules and is installed across an area of more than 14,000 square meters. This is a vast area that corresponds to the size of three football fields. With a maximum output of 2.23 MW, the system generates around 10 percent of the production site's annual energy consumption.

The photovoltaic system is operated by Sinohydro, the company that also planned and installed it. Plansee Shanghai purchases the electricity generated by Sinohydro at a low price, using it to supply areas of its production facilities.
